Your Student Board Member at Work

LA Unified’s Student Board Members are elected by their peers to serve as Student Representatives to the Board of Education. They are pivotal liaisons between board-level policy and students' lived experiences in the classroom. Student Board Members are dynamic leaders who can articulate the collective needs, concerns, and aspirations of all L.A. Unified students, ensuring their voices are heard and meaningfully integrated into decision-making processes.

The Student Board Member is entrusted with fostering engagement among the student body on critical issues impacting their educational experience, equity, and well-being. Through collaborative dialogue, strategic advocacy, and thoughtful representation, the Student Board Member contributes to shaping policies that promote inclusive, innovative, and student-centered education across the district. This role is a testament to the District’s commitment to encouraging strong student agency in governance, empowering young leaders to influence systemic change, and champion the interests of their peers.
